The NAYSI Online Course is for volunteer coaches, school coaches, teachers, interested parents, youth leaders, recreation leaders, camp leaders, church youth leaders, sport and fitness club pros and sales associates, youth work professionals, community leaders, youth program directors, board members

The NAYSI On-Line Course on Coaching with two (2) N.E.C.’s upon request* is offered for coaches, teachers, recreators, parents, directors, administrators, youth leaders, youth work professionals, board members, and students plus others who might benefit from an understanding of the growing world of kids and sports. It is self-paced

  1. The purpose of this course: To help you become a more effective coach and youth leader so youngsters can learn faster, play in safety and have a lot more fun.
  2. Enrollment fee: No charge. The NAYSI On-Line Course is free.
  3. To enroll: Complete the On-Line enrollment form at the start of the test.
  4. Credits: 2 NAYSI Education Credits (N.E.C.’s)*
  5. The Text: Beyond X’s and O’s by Jack Hutslar, North American Youth Sport Institute, founder and CEO, on-line at no charge, $10.95 for the 231 page hard copy
  6. What to do: Read and study Beyond X’s and O’s thoroughly over a 2 to 4 week period of time.
  7. The Examination: Complete the 75 multiple choice study questions on-line.
  8. Passing score: 80%
  9. If you score 79% or less, you may retake the test as many times as needed until you pass the test.
  10. The award or recognition:
    1. Personal sense of achievement
    2. Admission to the International Registry of Coaches
    3. 2 N.E.C.’s
  11. Professionals who are seeking N.E.C.’s to meet professional growth or pay advancement criteria should obtain prior approval that the NAYSI On-Line Course can be used for that purpose.

* N.E.C’s: North American Youth Sport Institute offers two (2) NAYSI Education Credits (N.E.C.’s) with the successful completion of this electronic course of study. Professionals who seek credit to qualify for career advancement requirements should obtain written approval from their supervisor prior to registration for this course. Independent study assignments can be developed for the course to increase the number of credits earned.

A self-paced study program that can be completed on-line. It includes BEYOND X’s and O’s on-line as study material, study-test questions, with your inclusion in the International Registry of Coaches for those who successfully complete the course.

Go to our homepage and click on the On-Line Course button. Read and study the text on-line. Then take the test on-line. At the beginning of the test, provide the required information. Take the test as many times as necessary until you pass. Passing is 80 per cent. Mastery is 85 per cent.

There is no fee to take this course.

About N.E.C.’s: NAYSI Education Credits are the official accounting notation used to track educational programs completed by NAYSI students of all ages. An N.E.C. is equal to 10 contact hours. For this, two (2) N.E.C.’s may be awarded for the successful completion of the NAYSI On-Line Course. Professionals who intend to use the NAYSI On-Line Course for credit toward job advancement requirements should obtain advance approval from their supervisor.

How To Study . . . in case you were absent that day in school

Your level of learning and ability to incorporate this material into your approach to working with youngsters improves when you:

  • turn off the radio, television and CDs
  • find a quiet place free of distractions to read and study
  • dedicate an hour or two each day to this course so you can complete the work in 2-3 week
  • discuss your studies with and present it to others

Recommended Study Procedure

  • Read and study BEYOND X’s and O’s from cover to cover. Do this first.
  • Go back and answer the 75 test questions.
  • Read and study BEYOND X’s and O’s again.
  • Review your answers for best retention.

What If I Do Not Pass?

Relax! You do not fail this course. If you do not pass the examination the first time, you may retake the test as many times as necessary.

NAYSI Education Credits* (N.E.C.’s) can be awarded for those who participate in the NAYSI program (1 N.E.C = 10 contact hours). For professionals, prior approval should be obtained in writing from supervisors when these N.E.C’s are expected to qualify for professional service or salary increment requirements.
