• FAQ: In Connie Mack Baseball (18U), we had a situation last night that I'd like clarification with: 2 outs, men on 1st and 2nd, 2-2 count. Batter check swings and ball hits him on the shin, ball rolling back to the backstop. Batter runs (hops) to first because there was no immediate ruling and there was no play on him, therefore loading the bases. My questions: If the batter gets hit by the ball while swinging, is it a third strike and therefore can he run to first since the catcher dropped the ball or should it be a strikeout and no advance awarded since hitting him caused the ball to become dead? • FAQ: This question pertains to a boys 13-14 baseball league where the visiting team is behind 6 to 3 after 4 complete innings of play. In the top of the 5th the visiting team scores 4 runs to go ahead 7 to 6. The starting pitcher for the visiting team pitches 4 complete innings and then in the bottom of the 5th a pitching change is made. The final score after 7 complete innings is 8 to 6 in favor of the visiting team. In my opinion the starting pitcher should get the win since the relief pitcher did not enter the game until the bottom of the fifth inning with a 7 to 6 lead. What's the ruling on this one? Jack Sez
