H.C. on 9/17/2000. Jack sez: I have found relay races very popular with all students, even very cool and sophisticated college students. Students set up as teams or in rows like the band. In the row formation, players can pass a football back to the end of the line. Do it overhead and then through the legs as in centering the ball. Then alternate over and under. In another row relay, students run, zig-zag, up and down and in and out of their row carrying the ball. In team formations, a player from each team carries the ball to a goal line or around a marker and back. Give the ball to the next person and repeat it. Get creative and come up with more options. Start thinking outside the box and you can come up with more games. Self-testing items are also popular with most students. See how far each student can pass, center and punt the ball. Use a football tee and have them kick field goals for accuracy. Hang up a target and students can pass for accuracy. You will find two football type books on Books, etc on our web site. In addition, I would recommend that you go to your local university library. Find those books related to teaching elementary school physical education. Each of those books will outline a number of games.
